    The goal The course goal is to enable students to analyze English texts; to introduce basic concepts and terminology related to the field of Text Linguistics; to train students to identify the linguistic units used in texts and to apply the seven standards of textuality to English texts.
    The outcome Students understand the basic concepts and terminology related to Text Linguistics; they can identify the linguistic units that comprise a text; they can apply the standards of textuality to English texts amd are able to construct texts which conform to these standards.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures The communication role of language, context with special focus on situation and cultural context; discourse; text, contextual and communicative semantics, and text structures; cohesion; rhetorical structure and rhetorical units
    Contents of exercises Application of knowledge gained in lectures to the analysis of various types of texts. Classroom discussions.
