The goal		The main aim is to introduce to students the most important theories and approaches to knowledge and its social determination, major categories in sociology of knowledge as well as the current state and perspectives of research in the discipline.
The outcome		The main outcome of the course is the acquisition of knowledge and insight into the historical and social conditions of the emergence and development of sociology of knowledge. Students will acquire basic knowledge about the social conditions of human knowledge and be able to recognize and critically evaluate its different forms.
Contents
Contents of lectures		The emergence and development of sociology of knowledge in Germany, France and USA. Classics in Sociology of knowledge and the philosophical influences and foundations. Overview of current developments, topics and research, perspectives of contemporary Sociology of Knowledge.
Contents of exercises		Practices include the study and readings of the most important literature in the discipline. Individual and group works, discussions, seminars.
