ERASMUS+ KA107, University of Veracrus, report on visit
GeneralWithin the KA107 Erasmus+ program for the mobility of teaching staff, Dr. Bojana Kovačević Petrović from the Department of Italian and Ibero-American Studies of FFUNS was in Mexico from May 24 to June 5, 2022, where she held 16 classes at the University of Veracruz (Universidad Veracruzana) on the topic of Hispanic-American literature and translation. The lectures were held at the Faculty of Philology, the Institute for Linguistic and Literary Research and the Institute for Education of the University of Veracruz, and were attended by 20-30 students live and as many online. The organizers and hosts of were Prof. Dr. Norma Cuevas Velasco and Prof. Dr. Pilar Ortiz Lovillo.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Bojana Kovačević Petrović had several fruitful meetings with professors and managers of the University of Veracruz, where various forms of cooperation were agreed, such as the project for the promotion of Mexican literature in Serbia (Institute for Linguistic and Literary Research) and the Program for the Improvement of Translation Competences (Institute for Education) which would be jointly organized by UV and the University of Novi Sad (https://www.facebook.com/DGIUV/videos/324699876516475).
By courtesy of the host, Dr. Norma Cuevas, a professor from the University of Novi Sad, Dr. Kovačević Petrović visited Villa Rica de la Veracruz (the place where world history took a new turn,with the arrival of Hernán Cortés), as well as the magical towns of Coatepec, Naolinco and Hico, and The Anthropological Museum in Jalapa known for housing the seven giant Olmec heads, the Quijauictlan archaeological site, the Pinacoteca "Diego Rivera" and the "Carlos Fuentes" Library in Jalapa.
During the two-week mobility, Dr. Bojana Kovačević Petrović also met with Dr. Ricardo Kors, director of the "Carlos Fuentes" Department, who will publish her original monograph Carlos Fuentes y la identidad latinoamericana by the end of this year. Also, on two occasions she met with Serbian professors of sculpture, Uroša Ušćebrka and Milena Milošević, who are professors at the Faculty of Applied Arts of the University of Veracruz.
After the stay in the state of Veracruz, Dr. Norma Cuevas and Dr. Bojana Kovačević Petrović participated together in the CLACSO2022 scientific meeting at the Autonomous University in the capital of Mexico, where they presented the CIBAM-CLACSO Special Working Group "Latin America and the Balkans: Cultural and Social Connections" in within the panel "Social and cultural migrations between Latin America and the Balkans". Within the same panel, participating online, there were Dr. Maria Teresa Brites Lemos and Dr. Alexis Dantas from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Nikolina Zidek from the Spanish School of International Relations, Dr. Milan Puh from the University of Sao Paulo, Dr. Isabel Storey from "Nottingham Trent University" and Dr. Emilio Gallardo-Saborido from the Spanish Council for Scientific Research. Among the 15,000 participants, this panel attracted special media attention, and the UNAM Gazette published news about the topics presented there.
After the visit of prof. Dr. Norme Cuevas at the University of Novi Sad in April 2022 and Dr. Bojane Kovačević Petrović at the University of Veracruz in May-June 2022, the Erasmus+ scholarship for a Mexican university was awarded to PhD student Anđelka Gemović of the Faculty of Philosophy, who will complete her three-month study stay in the first half of next year.
