The goal | Students are expected to acquire knowledge related to the morphological and syntactic features of the Hungarian language, knowledge of the grammatical structure of the Hungarian language, and to be able to conduct comparative grammar analyses. | |||
The outcome | Students will be able to identify and recognize the morphological and syntactic relations of the Hungarian language, and also have the skills to conduct basic comparative grammar analyses. | |||

Contents of lectures | Basic terms in morphology and syntax. General features of the Hungarian grammar system as compared to Indo-European languages. Semantic, morphological and syntactic features of parts of speech. Categorical and functional features. Predicative syntagm. Congruence. Syntagmatic behavior of words. Word order in the Hungarian language as related to word order in Indo-European languages. | |||
Contents of exercises | Analysis of examples and doing analytic-synthetic types of exercises and tasks in the above mentioned thematic units. | |||
